about

The name intrigued and made people smile in the drunken parties of the small Parisian bars where everyone goes with his amplified "what's going on?" or "what's new? Originally from Bordeaux, the three members of the group Cheveu went up to the capital as one would down a good bottle of wine and after a few concerts in places as confidential as they are warm, they made people talk. David (vocals), Olivier (synth) and Etienne (guitar) give off something of a rare intensity and magnetism on stage. First of all, there are these minimalist but terribly sharpened rhythms, in turn discreet or devastating but always haunting, which escape from the old keyboards that Olivier handles with the feverish assurance of a UFO pilot. Whether you believe it or not, the fascination is there and in this strange halo of deviant and blinding bpm, Etienne's clear and sparkling guitar suddenly stands out. Like a young Keith R fallen on his head, eaten up by the stellar beauty of delta blues, his fine and groovy playing illuminates the songs. Songs also transcended by the impressive voice and presence of David, a possessed interpreter, balancing between epileptic trance and psychic murmurs. Wizard of climaxes, Cheveu invents in music the street imax, the big format that fits in your pocket. So far so close. Within reach of the brain, within reach of the hip. Cheveu delivers his imagination in a big way, anywhere, anytime, but never in any way, in front of fans of garage punk, pop or electro who realize for once that styles are only facades and that the work is inside.

After a first biting 45t released on the Californian label S-S
Records and an appearance on the Frenchy compilation "Tête de Bébé" of the same label,Cheveu releases his second single on SDZ/Royal, two Parisian labels associated for the occasion. A scotching double-side: on the A side, "Clara Vénus" brilliantly inspired by a Rimbaud's poem, highlights this ravaged text of the young Arthur with a bubbling sense of rhythm and words; on the B side, "Superhero" continues on this hectic momentum as in an infernal chase where robots are gazelles and men are rust heaps that the imagination unstuck better than WD40.
